Have you had the Red Centre on your bucket list? Soon, travelling to the spiritual heartland of Australia will be a lot easier, because for the first time in its history, Virgin Australia is launching direct flights to Uluru from Melbourne and Brisbane. Fly straight to this unforgettable part of Australia, without having to board a connection at Sydney. The new services will start in Melbourne on June 6, 2024, followed by Brisbane the next day on June 7. This will give you plenty of time to enjoy the Northern Territory’s peak tourism season, which is between May and October.
Uluru flights with Virgin Australia
These new flights were launched in partnership with the Northern Territory government and the Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia. They will add over 62,000 seats per year to Uluru, supporting more tourism to the Red Centre.
Flights between Brisbane and Uluru will run three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Meanwhile, flights between Melbourne and Uluru will operate up to four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. These new routes will add more competition to the market, providing you with more choices the next time you fly to the Red Centre.
The flights will connect Uluru, not just to Australians, but to overseas tourists from Virgin’s international airline partners.
“Uluru is a special place in Australia and a cultural landmark that identifies this wonderful country to the world,” said Jayne Hrdlicka, Virgin Australia CEO. “We look forward to once again connecting Australians and international tourists alike, to the spiritual heartland of Australia.”
To celebrate these new services, Virgin Australia is throwing a sale to Uluru, with fares as low as $129 one-way in economy for travel between June 6, 2024 and September 12, 2024. This sale is on now, and will run until midnight AEST on Wednesday November 22, or unless sold out prior. Check out the sale here.
Ayers Rock Resort, which is operated by Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, is also welcoming new visitors with stays from $150 per night at the Lost Camel Hotel.
