A new nationwide study has named Victoria’s worst-rated Macca’s, with McDonald’s Chirnside Park scoring just 2.04 stars out of five from 653 Google reviews.

However, it’s far from the only Victorian Macca’s receiving low ratings. Restaurants in Tarneit, Melton South and Cranbourne also appear among the state’s 10 lowest-rated Macca’s, while one Tarneit location has accumulated more than 2,800 reviews.

How does Victoria compare nationally?

While Chirnside Park takes the unwanted title of Victoria’s lowest-rated Macca’s, McDonald’s Edinburgh North in Adelaide’s northern suburbs ranks last nationally. It averages just 1.89 stars from 672 Google reviews, with 68% of reviewers giving it one star.
Queensland also features heavily among Australia’s poorest-performing locations. Edens Crossing in Redbank Plains scores 1.96 stars, while Berrinba in south-east Queensland and Brabham in Perth each average 2.00 stars. Chirnside Park’s 2.04-star rating places it among the country’s five lowest-rated restaurants, with Riverdale Village in Tarneit also making the national bottom 10.
Also, at the other end of the rankings, McDonald’s Melville in Myaree, Perth, leads the country with 3.96 stars from 2,599 reviews. Haberfield in Sydney’s inner west follows at 3.94 stars, ahead of the Stapylton service-centre restaurant in Queensland, which scores 3.93.
Across the 887 restaurants included in the study, the average rating was 3.29 stars. Researchers collected the data on 5th October, 2026, analysing 1,459,622 Google reviews.
They calculated each restaurant’s exact average from its individual one- to five-star ratings, rather than relying on Google’s rounded scores, to distinguish between locations with similar displayed ratings.
Ratings can fluctuate as customers leave new reviews, so the order may look different as more feedback comes in, but for now, these are the rankings to go by.
