After 138 years, a heritage pub in the Yarra Valley is about to get a makeover. The Yarra Valley Grand Hotel is set to get its biggest transformation in decades, with revamped interiors, an extended beer garden and even an upgraded kids playground. Works started this week, and the venue will remain open for trading during the renovation.

Yarra Valley Grand Hotel
This popular watering hole was originally built in 1888 as the Burgoyne Hotel. Renamed in 1905, the Yarra Valley Grand Hotel is a heritage-listed destination that has welcomed locals and tourists alike. Located an hour away from Melbourne, the landmark is named as an excellent example of the seaside and country resorts built during the boom period of the 1880s.
The venue is a two-storey brick building, with a four-storey tower, a bar, a bistro, a dining room, a beer garden, and ten modern rooms for you to stay the night.
The renovation will include an extended beer garden and deck for even more leisurely drinks outdoors and an upgraded playground for the kids to let loose. It will also revitalise the dining, bistro and bar areas.

“This is about honouring our past while securing our future and serving our local community,” said Joel Cargill, Yarra Valley Grand Venue Manager. “For nearly 140 years, this pub has been the heart of our community. We’re modernising the experience while respecting our heritage.”
There’s no word yet on when the renovation will be complete. In the meantime, you can keep an eye on their website or social media for updates.
