There’s no better time to eat your way through the city than autumn, and Melbourne CBD’s Yum Sing House is leaning right into the season with a line-up of chef collaborations, pop-up desserts and a one-off guest event that taps straight into the city’s love for creative food .
The contemporary Asian restaurant on Sutherland Street has announced a packed program running from April to June—marking the arrival of new Head Chef Ian Ho, who’s already plating up an inventive seasonal menu blending Malaysian roots with modern technique.
From Suburbs to CBD

Launching this month, Yum Sing House’s Suburb to City series brings some of Melbourne’s favourite suburban makers into the heart of town. First in line are Bakt, the Caroline Springs dessert studio adored for its Basque cheesecakes.
In April, diners can try a trio of limited flavours, including Szechuan chilli chocolate layered with dark chocolate ganache and shortbread crumb, and a black sesame yuzu cheesecake finished with optional Hennessy salted caramel.
The sweet collab costs $10 with any banquet or $14 à la carte, marking the first of three instalments, followed by a May partnership with Filipino-inspired doughnut brand Pecks Road and another mystery guest arriving in June.
A Hong Kong Street Feast Lands in May

If you’ve ever wanted to experience the chaos and charm of a Hong Kong dai pai dong— those open-air food stalls buzzing with beer bottles and sizzling woks—Yum Sing House is about to make it happen.
On Saturday, 16th May, guest chef Geoff Marett, co-founder of Japanese-inspired catering pop-up Nama Please and former Yardbird Hong Kong chef, will transform the venue into an alleyway-style feast.
Here, you’ll find six bold dishes paired with either craft saké from Mùa (Vietnam’s first saké brewery) or an ice-cold Tsingtao for $88 per person. DJs will round out the afternoon with throwback R&B and hip-hop from the ’90s and early 2000s.
“We’re thrilled to bring Melbourne diners a season full of new flavours, collaborations, and experiences,” says Yum Sing House Director Kiet Diep. “We love to celebrate the creativity of both our team and our community partners, offering guests different ways to discover contemporary Asian cuisine, all in the heart of the city.”
Autumn Plates That Shine

Alongside the collab series, Ho introduces an autumn menu built for cooler nights and longer dinners, with dishes like roasted scallops in XO butter, crispy barramundi with pickled wombok and fried radish and shiitake cake topped with delicate egg floss.
With over 15 years cooking across Melbourne’s fine dining scene, Ho’s approach blends restraint and flavour-forward design, giving Yum Sing House a refreshed identity rooted in creativity and cultural respect.
Yum Sing House’s Suburb to City collaboration runs April through June, with Geoff Marett’s Dai Pai Dong event taking place Saturday, 16th May at 12pm. Spots are limited so book here!
