It’s hard to believe, but Christmas is getting closer and closer. And if you’d like to get your shopping done nice and early, Alliance Française de Melbourne is bringing its annual Christmas Market back to Abbotsford Convent. Find plenty of holiday cheer and French culture at this delightful market, with artisan stalls, live entertainment, and yes, plenty of delicious French food. The market will take place on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22.
Alliance Française Christmas Market 2026
Last year, this event attracted over 10,000 visitors across two days. This time, you can expect over 40 stalls, filled with gourmet treats, handmade crafts, fashion and unique gifts for your loved ones. Think jewellery, ceramics, books, candles and more.
Throughout the weekend, there will be live entertainment, such as roving artists, baking demonstrations, French choirs and even an adorable dog parade on Sunday morning. Bring your dog along and show them off in their cutest festive or French costume for the chance to win a special prize.
The little ones will also have fun with a dedicated Kids Corner, filled with festive activities like making a Christmas ornament.
Don’t miss the vast array of delicious French food and drinks from local vendors, such as Escargot Bakery, Frencheese, By Josephine, La Louche Creperie, Kanelle Patisserie and Mosaique wines. Indulge in pastries on the day, and find some pantry items to take home from vendors like France At Home or Saucisson Australia.
