Antopia at Melbourne Museum
You’re invited to shrink down to the size of an ant, and discover an intricate system of invisible senses that ants use to communicate. Follow pheromone trails and learn all about life in the colony. See the busy worker ants, join scouts on outdoor expeditions, care for the little ones in the nursery and even step into the queen’s chamber.
“Antopia ignites curiosity and passion for the natural world,” said Museums Victoria CEO and director Lynley Crosswell. “Through innovative, playful and experiential storytelling, visitors big and small will be blown away by the eye-opening new perspectives they will gain from this captivating exhibition.”
The Opening Weekend on December 14 and 15 will have fun celebrations with Tiny Tours for young visitors, roving puppets and an interactive performance from Polyglot Theatre, featuring ants as big as humans.
Meanwhile, at IMAX, you can learn all about ants, scorpions and beetles in Bugs 3d: Micro Monsters.
There will also be activities during the school holidays, such as creative workshops, to help spark imagination in kids and help them learn more about insects.
