If you’re walking around the city this week, you might stumble across a rather surprising display. Hanging above Staughton Place, just off Little Bourke Street, is a collection of 24 giant inflatable boobs. Supporting breasts in all shapes, sizes and skin tones, this bold installation was created by artist Christine Yahya to mark the expansion of intimates brand Nala into 22 Myer stores. Boobie Lane is free to visit, and you can see it at Staughton Place from now until Sunday, September 13.

Boobie Lane by Nala
This isn’t the first time Nala has made a titillating art display. Back in 2023, they worked with Yahya to float a viral inflatable boob down the Yarra River. That particular stunt was made in protest of censorship.
Meanwhile, Boobie Lane is about celebrating breasts of all kinds, particularly the ones rarely seen in lingerie advertising, such as post-mastectomy breasts, inverted nipples, body hair, stretch marks, tattoos and nipple piercing.
“Seeing Boobie Lane come to life is such an incredible moment for Nala,” said co-founder Chloe de Winter. “It’s bold, playful and unapologetically us, but more importantly, it gives us the opportunity to celebrate so many different bodies and boobs in partnership with one of Australia’s most iconic retailers, Myer. We hope it gets people talking and continues to push the conversation around what real bodies and real representation actually look like.”

If you’re keen to check it out, you’re invited to bring a clean, pre-loved bra in good and wearable condition to donate. These bras will then be sold through participating Salvos Stores, with the funds raised to support The Salvation Army across Australia. For every pre-loved bra received, Nala will donate one new bra (up to 500), to The Salvation Army’s family violence programs. These will be given to women and young people in need of safe accommodation after fleeing family violence.
Boobie Lane is open between 8am and 9pm, from now until Sunday, September 13. Entry is via Little Bourke Street.
