Escape to the High Country this autumn and visit the vibrant town of Bright for their annual autumn festival. In this ten day celebration, you’ll feel amazed by the rich colours of the autumn leaves. While you’re there, discover autumn produce from the valleys of the High Country, beautiful works of art and more. The Bright Autumn Festival will run from Friday April 22 to Sunday May 1.
Bright Autumn Festival
Bright is famous for its deciduous trees that set the town ablaze with hues of red, gold, yellow and orange every autumn.
The highlight of the festival this year will be the Gala Weekend, which will feature a wonderful market, music in the streets, and a grand parade on Saturday April 30.
Another festival highlight will be the Wandi Nut Festival on Saturday April 23. Meet local growers of chestnut, pistachios, walnuts and more at the bustling marketplace. Then, discover local arts and crafts, and taste treats with special nut flavours. There will be cooking demonstrations, live music, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, a petting zoo, face painting and more.
Other festival events include the Open Gardens, which will allow you to roam through different gardens, from the wild to the formal. Discover a range of exotic and rare trees, admire the fiery autumn hues and feel inspired by the different styles and designs.
Then, explore the Autumn Art Exhibition at the Bright Art Gallery. Back for its 60th year, this seasonal exhibition is one of the longest-running art shows in the country. It will have its Opening Night on Friday April 1 at 7pm. After that, it will open from 10am to 4pm on April 2 to May 7, and then open from 10am until noon on May 8. Entry to the exhibition is $5.
The full program for the Bright Autumn Festival is still being finalised. Keep an eye on their website for updates.
