Escape to the High Country this autumn and visit the vibrant town of Bright for their annual autumn festival. In this ten day celebration, you’ll feel amazed by the rich colours of the autumn leaves. While you’re there, discover autumn produce from the valleys of the High Country, beautiful works of art and more. The Bright Autumn Festival will run from Friday April 26 to Sunday May 5.
Bright Autumn Festival
Bright is famous for its deciduous trees that set the town ablaze with hues of red, gold, yellow and orange every autumn. Their spectacular autumn festival has been running since 1962, and is one of the oldest continuous running festivals in Australia.
The highlight of the festival this year is the Gala Weekend, which will feature a wonderful market, music in the streets, and a grand parade on Saturday May 4.
Another festival highlight is the Wandi Nut Festival on Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28. Meet local growers of chestnuts, hazelnuts, walnuts and more at the bustling marketplace. Browse through the local craft and produce stalls, indulge in delicious food and drink, and have heaps of fun with live music and family-friendly activities.
Other festival events include the Open Gardens, which will allow you to roam through different gardens. Discover a range of exotic and rare trees, admire the fiery autumn hues and feel inspired by the different styles and designs.
Then, explore the Autumn Art Show at the Bright Art Gallery. This seasonal exhibition has been running for over 50 years. Every year, it attracts over 800 entries from artists around the country. Each artist is competing for prizes in their respective categories, such as watercolour or oil. The best one will be added to the gallery’s permanent collection. This exhibition is on from March 28 to May 12, and is open daily between 10am and 4pm.
