Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Returns To Metro Melbourne Stores This Weekend

With no aroma of sausages and onions cooking on a grill, a trip to Bunnings just hasn’t been the same.

I like to think there are two types of people in the world that go to Bunnings. There are those that go to Bunnings to buy things they need, and then there are those that go to Bunnings to buy things they need but only after scoffing down one, two, or three sausages in bread. For those of us in the second group, there is good news!

Bunnings sausage sizzles will be back across metropolitan Melbourne tomorrow, 5 December!

To be honest, I don’t think there are many people in the first group because if there were, then the Bunnings’ sausage sizzle, put on by various community groups across Australia, just wouldn’t be a thing. And, it’s undoubtedly a thing.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be any argument as to whether the onions go on top or underneath; the position of the sausage on the bread, or using a non-traditional square slice, wouldn’t have caused any hoopla; and there would never have been a guy who flew his drone from his hot tub to his local Bunnings just to pick up a snag.

Supporting the local community by buying a snag will look a little different from now on, so customers will be ordering and picking up their snag at different points in order to respect social distancing measures.

Every year, about 40,000 sausages are cooked outside Bunnings across the country, raising money for community groups, charities, sports clubs, and good causes. It is a rule, after all, to never go shopping on an empty stomach.
