On your Internet travels, you may have stumbled across the bright and energetic Chef Motokichi Yukimura and his famous omurice. This signature dish sounds simple enough. It’s a fluffy omelette laid on top of fried rice. The egg is then sliced down the middle, splitting open gracefully to fully cover the rice and reveal a soft and glistening inner layer.
And, thanks to his skill, showmanship and attention to detail, Chef Motokichi has captured the attention of foodies everywhere with his omurice at Kichi Kichi in Kyoto. This restaurant is so popular that they only accept same-day reservations. You need to physically go to the restaurant and make a reservation using a password posted on the door.
Thankfully, you don’t need to fly all the way to Japan to experience this viral sensation. Chef Motokichi is bringing his iconic omurice to Melbourne. Try it for yourself at Ishizuka on Thursday March 7 and Friday March 8.
