Going out for a drink midweek is all good, but going out for a drink and food pairing at beloved Melbourne cocktail bar Eau de Vie is better than good—it’s great. So, when Eau de Vie announced that their famed Whisky and Cheese Tuesdays were making a comeback in 2022, we got excited because, naturally, we are lovers of both whisky and cheese. And combining them, marrying them, pairing them expertly to take us on a journey of the senses is a dream.
For just $40, that dream is now a reality and that reality is still on the table on Tuesday nights because why stop a good thing?
On Tuesday nights, guests are treated to five whiskies matched masterfully to five kinds of artisanal cheese.
What the pairings will be, we’re not sure but in the past pairings have included Aberlour 12-year-old with French Delice, Glenmorangie Bacalta with gruyere, Bruichladdich Classic Laddie with D’Auvergne blue, and even an Auchentoshan Three Wood with French raclette. Eau de Vie is not messing around when it comes to satiating your taste buds and we, for one, are more than pleased.
The team at Eau de Vie will also be on hand throughout the night to talk you through the whisky and cheese pairings. So, any questions you might have—like, why does this cheese taste so good with that whisky?—will be dutifully answered. (If it can be answered.)
