There’s lots of cool cinemas to check out around Melbourne, but a massive new viewing experience is on the cards for the future. Event Cinemas is launching ScreenX, and it’s set to make your movie-going experience bigger and better than ever. Featuring screens spanning three walls and displaying pictures up to 67.7 meters wide, it promises an immersive, 270-degree experience. Australia’s first ScreenX is launching in the Gold Coast, with Sydney as the next spot. With plans to expand nationally, we’re hoping to see it in Melbourne soon!
ScreenX, Australia
The world’s first multi-projection cinema experience uses three screens during a movie surrounding cinemagoers in their seats and filling the audience’s peripheral vision with 270-degree panoramic projections. ScreenX projects footage onto the left and right walls along with the main screen of the theater. Other features include Dolby surround sound and comfy recliner seating. This creative new form of storytelling is now making its way to Australia with the first-ever ScreenX launching in Event Cinemas Robina.
And the movies set to screen are just as big and worthy of the ScreenX treatment. The line-up includes upcoming blockbusters like The Creator, Dune II, The Marvels and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom along with past large-scale releases like Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.
“At Event Cinemas, we are dedicated to bringing the best range of cinema experiences to Australian audiences. ScreenX is popular globally and we can’t wait for our local audiences to experience it. Our next stop will be Sydney,” Luke Mackey, Director of Entertainment Australia for EVT said.
Precise details about where future ScreenX locations will be or when they will launch have not been revealed yet. Head to the Event Cinemas website for more information about this immersive experience.
