Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is set to host some incredible exhibitions next year, one of them being Fairy Tales, a striking wonderland of sculptures, installations, paintings, fashion, and more.
The exhibition explores the key themes utilised in fairy tales throughout history, such as coming-of-age tales, gender and otherness, bravery and justice, loyalty and humility, as well as cunning and aspiration.
You can expect to see these topics showcased through mesmerising art pieces. Giant tree sculptures, magical animals, wicked witches, mirrors, castles and pumpkins, just to name a few.
Artists from around the world appear on the line up for Fairy Tales, from Yayoi Kusama and Patricia Piccinini to Kiki Smith, Jana Sterbak and Ron Mueck.
While the fascinating exhibition won’t open until December next year, it’ll surely be worth the wait (and the flight). It’s expected that tickets will go on sale sometime in mid-2023, so we’ll keep you updated.
