Last year, it became clear that Fed Square is the place to be when it comes to watching sports live on the big screen. This iconic part of Melbourne was absolutely buzzing when it came to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. And soon, Fed Square will become the official live site for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Catch all of the live action, replays and highlights each day of the Games. The Olympics start on Friday July 26 and run until Sunday August 11. After that, the Paralympics will run from Wednesday August 28 to Sunday September 8.
Olympic and Paralympic Games at Fed Square
Round up your friends, put on some green and gold and head to this vibrant community space. Fed Square will show all the action on the big screen with highlights and replays from 12pm to 4pm, followed by Nine’s live broadcast from 4pm to 10pm.
“Fed Square is Melbourne’s cultural heart and it’s one of the best places in the world for people of all ages and from all backgrounds to gather and share in our historic sporting moments,” said Minister for Creative Industries Colin Brooks. “As Victoria’s official 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games hub, Fed Square will welcome thousands of spectators to cheer on our Aussie heroes and witness the world’s best sporting superstars in action.”
After the massive interest in the FIFA Women’s World Cup last year, entry to Fed Square will be ticketed for all Matilda’s matches. Entries will still be free, but you will need to register for online. Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Registration opens today for the first three Matilda matches, which are:
- Friday July 26, 3am, Germany vs. Australia
- Monday July 29, 3am, Australia vs. Zambia
- Thursday August 1, 3am, Australia vs. United States
During the Matilda matches, there will be temporary fencing around Fed Square, as well as bag checks upon entry.
