The iconic Golden Fleece Hotel, first licensed in 1872, has been reinvigorated with Mediterranean flair. Now owned by Issac Constantine and Zachary Riggs, the founders of Chapel Street restaurant Two Wrongs, this South Melbourne staple has been completely refurbished. Escape to Santorini in this bright space, complete with a dazzling rooftop, DJ space, and bottle shop. Golden Fleece Hotel is now open 7 days a week.
Golden Fleece Hotel
Inside the new space, you’ll discover white sandstone booths and a varied range of vases and cacti inside every nook and cranny. Head up the mosaic-tiled stairs and experience a transformation from day to night. On the upper level, you’ll find black booth dining areas, a pool table, and a room for DJ sets. Then, move on to the rooftop, where things become white and bright again. Soak in the summer sunset, lounge on the sandstone booths and cosy up by the fireplace.
On the menu, start with a wide range of appetisers, including calamari, oysters, olives, a charcuterie board and more. Then, try one of their Greek-inspired gourmet pizzas, or indulge in some fresh pasta. Both the pizza and pasta can be made gluten-free upon request. There’s also hearty pub far, such as a classic chicken parma, dry aged scotch fillet and chargrilled lamb rack.
To drink, there’s heaps of beers on tap, wine and house cocktails on offer.
Inside the Golden Fleece Hotel, there’s also a bottle shop, that will soon launch a subscription service. Simply order your favourite wines, beers or cocktails, then get it delivered to your door every month.
