The internet’s favourite rivalry just claimed the stage. The cult-favourite gay hockey romance Heated Rivalry has turned Hudson and Connor into internet icons—and now it’s inspiring its own filthy spin-off night in Melbourne.
On Saturday, 14th March, Fitzroy’s beloved queer dive bar Yah Yah’s will host a Hudson and Connor Lookalike Competition, promising a riot of impersonations and more than a make-outs. Someone will take it too seriously. Everyone else will love them for it.
Find your Hudson Williams or Connor Storrie—or hunt them down among your friends, Tinder dates, or that guy you swear you saw at the juice bar once—and sign up for the free, 18+ showdown. According to organisers, “It’s time to heat up your rivalry, Melbourne!”
Judging categories range from the hilarious to the downright thirsty. Points will be awarded for the best loon call, the best “I’m coming to the cottage” impression, and best glambot flip-off (a Hudson specialty, naturally). Contestants channelling Connor will face off in the best butt and best dance to Madonna categories, while Hudson impersonators will prove themselves to the tune of ABBA—because of course they will.
Prizes include $50 cash and mystery goodies, but really, you’re in it for the glory (and that Instagram clip everyone reposts tomorrow).
Tickets are live now—grab yours on Eventbrite and lock in 14th March at 9pm before they’re gone.
Has anyone ever said you resemble a hockey player tangled in romance and allergic to shirts? Step right up.
