This year, Melbourne gives Easter a whole new altitude—literally. Australia’s first-ever hot cross bun café is preparing for lift-off, inviting adventurous foodies to enjoy toasted buns thousands of feet above the city in a hot air balloon.
Dubbed a “bun voyage,” the one-of-a-kind experience will see guests drifting across the Melbourne skyline as they bite into fresh, flame-toasted buns—cooked right over the balloon’s own burner.
Meanwhile, alongside the stunning views, a butler will serve limited-edition flavours inspired by Terry’s Chocolate Orange and Reese’s Peanut Butter, adding an indulgent touch to this lofty Easter celebration.
According to new research, more than 60 per cent of Australians say food tastes better when the experience feels special—and this one certainly takes “unique dining” to new heights.
Additionally, the creators say the aim was to make Easter feel extra memorable this year, with one organiser adding that it’s “an experience that’s second to bun.”
How To Ride The Hot Air Balloon

The exclusive flight experience will launch in Melbourne on Monday, 16th March, with a handful of free tickets dropping via Eventbrite on Saturday, 14th March at 9am.
Moreover, given how rare this high-flying café is, you’ll want to move fast—once those tickets are gone, they’re gone for good.
