We love going to the IMAX at Melbourne Museum, but if you’re in the south-east, you now have an IMAX that’s way easier to get to. Swing by the Village Cinemas in Fountain Gate for the second IMAX in Melbourne. This exciting new space features IMAX with Laser technology, a next-generation laser projection and sound system that’s exclusive to IMAX. This new location opens tonight, with an advanced screening of Wicked: For Good.

IMAX at Fountain Gate
This new IMAX is the first collaboration between IMAX, Village Cinemas and Scentre Group, the operators of Westfield Fountain Gate.
“We’re incredibly proud to bring IMAX to Fountain Gate,” said Clark Kirby, CEO of Village Cinemas. “This new theatre represents the future of premium cinema and our mission to continually elevate the moviegoing experience.”
The IMAX with Laser technology features a 4K laser projection system with a new optical engine, offering sharp and clear images, increased resolution, deeper contrast and distinct colours. It also has precision audio, offering a dynamic range and immersive, wall-to-wall sound.
The custom-designed theatre also has stadium seating, so you can have a great view no matter where you are. If you’d like to treat yourself, try out the Premium Pod, which offers private seating and in-seat service for more comfort and convenience.

During Wicked: For Good screenings, you can expect exclusive food and drink options, such as a Wicked-themed Baked Alaska, or mocktails served in collectible Elphaba and Glinda cups. Limited-edition merch featuring custom popcorn containers and drinkware are also available for purchase while stocks last.
