There’s heaps of ways for you to celebrate Christmas in July, from the festivities at Queen Victoria Market, to the twinkling Winter Wonderlights in Sovereign Hill. And if you’re itching to celebrate the season near the snow, there’s also a few events happening in the High Country, with a massive festival in Bright, and a European night market on Mount Buller. And if you’d like to experience something that’s fun for the whole family, why don’t you set your sights on Lake Mountain? Located two hours away from Melbourne, this delightful mountain resort is hosting a Christmas in July event across two days. Meet Santa and Mrs Claus, feast on cosy, Christmas-themed treats, and of course, have fun playing in the snow! The Christmas in July festivities will take place on Lake Mountain on July 25 and 26.

Christmas in July on Lake Mountain
Bundle up the kids and have a jolly time out at Melbourne’s closest ski resort. Santa and Mrs Claus will be visiting from the North Pole, greeting visitors from 10am. Families can enjoy meet-and-greets and take photos with the famous pair in Santa’s Grotto at 10:15am and 1:20pm. They will also spend some time roaming around the village.
If you’re feeling creative and competitive, head to the Snow Play area and take part in the Snowman Building Competition. Santa and Mrs Claus will be there to judge the winners.

Of course, you can also just have fun in the Snow Play area, having snowball fights and frolicking around. For more fun, take part in one of the three ticketed tobogganing runs. If conditions are right and you’d like to explore beyond the village, see what else the mountain has to offer by going snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Journey along the trails, and take in panoramic views of Marysville and beyond.
After all that excitement outdoors, you might be feeling hungry! Over the weekend, there will be an assortment of Christmas-inspired treats to fuel you up, including winter braised beef, roasted pork, turkey sandwiches and roasted vegetables. For something sweet, nibble on a reindeer cupcake, or go for one of Santa’s Cookies. And, what’s a winter day without a cup of hot chocolate? Sip on this cosy beverage, topped with whipped cream.
Inside the Bistro, the kids can also stay busy with some Christmas colouring activities.
