A month-long winter festival is coming to Chadstone for the very first time. At Light to Night, you can expect immersive art, dining experiences, community events, after-dark music events and more. The festival will kick off on Thursday, June 11, and run until Sunday, July 12.
Light to Night festival at Chadstone
The festival program will take over the entire shopping centre, inviting you to linger after the sun goes down.
“Light to Night is a statement of intent – not just in scale, but in ambition,” said Mardi Ashkine, Head of Brand and Marketing at Chadstone. “We’re creating a festival that feels unmistakably Melbourne, while showcasing Chadstone as a cultural destination in its own right. This program reflects how far the destination has evolved – from fashion and retail into a place for art, food, entertainment and meaningful shared experiences.”

Art program
At its heart, you’ll find a major collaboration with Australian artist, RONE. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he once transformed the third floor of Flinders Street Station into a hauntingly beautiful space. This time, he will transform a retail tenancy into a familiar, yet disquieting, weatherboard home. The installation, known as Home, will contrast Rone’s time-worn interiors with the controlled environment of the shopping centre.

For even more art, look forward to a major light sculpture from rising artist Dean Norton, in collaboration with Studio John Fish. This piece, titled Through the Looking Glass, will feature dichroic glass and lightwork that will interact with Chadstone’s gridshell roof. Take a moment to pause and reflect as you gaze at the layered surfaces and infinite reflections of the sculpture.
Culinary experiences
Chadstone will collaborate with Melbourne Food & Wine Festival to host the World’s Longest Dinner. Inspired by the World’s Longest Lunch, this will be the first time that the event will be held outside the usual festival programming. 400 guests will gather and feast on four courses on one long table. Produce will be sourced from The Market Pavilion, and the menu will be created by three exciting young chefs.

Speaking of The Market Pavilion, this food precinct will host Dinners With Friends. Look forward to intimate evenings hosted by notable names in Australia’s food scene, like Julia Busuttil Nishimura and Khanh Ong.
More fun stuff
You can also expect after-dark music events, with Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers and Oliver Cronin on the line-up, as well as community programming like wellness workshops with Kaya Health Club, and a Hype Girl Social Club night at Hijinx Hotel.
During the school holidays, kids will be able to stay busy with hands-on experiences.
