The gorgeous, after-dark experience, Lightscape, is back in the Royal Botanic Gardens for a fourth season. Wander through the green heart of Melbourne and feel enchanted by over 20 new installations. As you journey along the 2.1km path, you’ll feel dazzled by floral canopies, a ‘lawn of light’ and more. Lightscape will illuminate Melbourne from Friday June 20 to Sunday August 10.
Lightscape
After delighting visitors in the UK and US, Lightscape made its debut in Melbourne in 2022. With its colourful installations and glowing tunnels, it quickly became one of the must-do events of the winter season.
Listen to captivating soundscapes as you walk beneath the stars, while sipping on mulled wine or hot chocolate. There will be a Welcome Hub offering a variety of food and drink before the trail, such as warm paella, hearty souvlaki and potatoes on a stick. Food will also be available for purchase throughout the experience, such as glowing fairy floss, or marshmallows that you can toast on fire pits.
The Terrace will have market stalls about halfway along the trail, serving up hand-held bites like dumplings, tacos and desserts.
You could also treat yourself to a set menu at The Observatory before or after you walk along the trail.
There’s so much to take in, so it’s best to allow 90 minutes so that you can appreciate everything without feeling rushed. As this is an outdoor event, remember to rug up.
Lightscape will run from Wednesdays to Sundays, as well as on select Mondays and Tuesdays for the school holidays.
