After being postponed way back in 2020, a gorgeous wonderland filled with twinkling lights is finally coming to Melbourne. Head to the Royal Botanic Gardens, and feel dazzled by beams of light. Lightscape will illuminate Melbourne during the winter months, from June 24 to August 7. Tickets for this immersive experience go on sale on Friday March 11.
After mesmerising people in the UK and the US, Lightscape was originally meant to arrive in Melbourne in winter 2020. However, COVID-19 happened, and it was put off for two more years. This June, the immersive installation is finally opening in Melbourne.
In this after-dark experience, you’ll meander through a garden paradise, and admire vibrant bursts of light. Discover beautiful installations from both international and Australian artists. Look at the tree canopies above, and see them drenched in colour. From the undergrowth, bursts of light will tumble out, and run up the trees. Explore glowing tunnels, and see glimmering waterside reflections.
A night at Lightscape should last about 90 minutes. A new session will open up every 15 minutes, so heaps of people can come and enjoy this experience. Lightscape will open at 5:15pm, and close at 8pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 9pm on Friday and Saturday.
