After a sell-out season last year, the gorgeous, after-dark experience, Lightscape, is back at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Wander through the green heart of Melbourne with a new trail that stretches just over two kilometres. As you journey along the path, you’ll discover shimmering lights, large-scale sculptures, soundscapes and more. Lightscape is illuminating Melbourne on Wednesday to Sunday nights, from now until August 6.
Lightscape
After dazzling visitors in the UK and US, Lightscape made its debut in Melbourne last year. With its colourful installations and glowing tunnels, it quickly became one of the must-do events of the season.
Lose yourself in a garden paradise, filled with over 100, 000 tiny lights. Along the trail, you’ll immerse yourself in light, colour, reflection and music. Discover lakeside reflections, colour-changing installations and plenty of new surprises. The breath-taking Winter Cathedral is back, along with some never-before-seen artworks, including a six metre orb made of thousands of LEDs, glowing mushrooms and a flicking fire garden.
If the walk works up an appetite, don’t worry. There’s plenty of food options to keep you happy and warm. The popular welcome zone, filled with food trucks and pop-up bars, has made a return, with pizza, loukoumades, southern-style sandwiches and more.
Along the trail, you’ll find bars serving up drinks like prosecco and mulled wine.
Stop at The Terrace Food Hall, and warm up with lovely treats like Filipino-style chicken skewers, crème brûlée and sweet marshmallows.
