The gorgeous, after-dark experience, Lightscape, will return to the Royal Botanic Gardens for a third season next winter. Wander through the green heart of Melbourne with a reimagined new trail that stretches across 2.2 kilometres. As you journey along the path, you’ll discover new shimmering installations, laser gardens, spectacular lights and more. Lightscape will return to Melbourne from June 14, 2024.
Lightscape
After dazzling visitors in the UK and US, Lightscape made its debut in Melbourne in 2022. With its colourful installations and glowing tunnels, it quickly became one of the must-do events of the winter season.
“The Gardens provide an exquisite canvas for us to create a magical world of light, nature and wonder,” said David Harland, Director and Chief Executive of Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. “We’ve challenged ourselves to push the boundaries of creativity and excite everyone again this coming year. In 2024, we have a few surprises up our sleeve as we build on the experience to make it exhilarating for both returning and first time visitors.”
Look forward to the immersive experience, Submergence, where you’ll move through thousands of suspended lights. The installation will shift and change in colour in response to the movement.
Also new next year will be Lili by French artistic studio TILT. In this Australian debut, you’ll see a series of three-metre tall illuminated flowers.
The beloved Winter Cathedral will return, as well as the Laser Garden at Fern Gully. Meanwhile, the welcome zone will continue to serve tasty treats before you enter the garden. However, if you get hungry along the trail, there will be food available at various points throughout the experience.
Lightscape will run from Wednesdays to Sundays, from Friday June 14 to Sunday August 4. Tickets go on sale from Friday December 8.
