After a $4 million renovation, the CBD venue formerly known as European Bier Café is reopening. Now known as Morris House, this four-level pub features a New York-inspired basement comedy club, a styling dining area, bar and rooftop. The new name is a nod to the building’s heritage and original name in 1924. Morris House can fit 550 guests across the four levels, and the rooftop is suitable for 180 guests. This venue will reopen to the public on Monday July 10.

“We’re bringing all the best parts of Melbourne together in one place which means there will always be something to come and enjoy,” said Venue Manager Dylan Howlett. “Start your night with a meal in the dining room, before heading down to the Basement Comedy Club for a show and end the evening on the rooftop with a signature cocktail.”
What can you expect on each level?

The food menu is available to try on every level. Look forward to reimagined pub classics, share plates, loaded bagels and house-made focaccia. Nibble on baked camembert, feast on crumbed Western Plains pork rib eye and indulge in boozy New York cheesecake.
Discover a curated cocktail menu with a signature Agave section. Sip on Frozen Iced VoVo Margarita or a Spicy Watermelon Margarita. Then, try the Thirsty Hearts Club, a smoky concoction made with mezcal, Cointreau, green juice, agave, lime and tajin.
On Sundays, enjoy a leisurely Long Lunch. Sip on a glass of wine and graze on small bites, focaccia, beef wellington and more. This dining event is available from 12pm in the Dining Room, Level One and on the Rooftop.
