After national tours of The Mousetrap and And Then There Were None, it’s time for Hercule Poirot to come to Melbourne. The Agatha Christie classic, Murder on the Orient Express, will be brought to life on stage at the Comedy Theatre. Whether you’ve read the book, seen the movie or you’re going in blind, you’ll be on the edge of your seat as the world’s most famous detective, Hercule Poirot, tries to solve an impossible murder. The waitlist is now open, with the show set to run from June 2027.
Murder on the Orient Express
The story begins in winter 1934, when an avalanche stops the luxurious Orient Express train in its tracks, and an American tycoon is found dead in his locked compartment, with multiple stab wounds. Stranded in the snow, and with a killer among the passengers, Poirot must solve the murder before the journey resumes.

This stage adaptation comes to Melbourne after a successful tour of the UK, Ireland and mainland China. The show was adapted by playwright Ken Ludwig, and will be led by British director Lucy Bailey, who has a number of Agatha Christie mysteries under her belt.
“Stylish, fast-paced and darkly witty, Lucy Bailey’s production blends the intrigue of a classic whodunnit with sparkling humour,” said producer John Frost. “With brilliant direction, stunning design and opulent costumes, it promises to be the must-see theatrical event of 2027. I challenge audiences to unravel this seemingly impossible murder before Poirot does!”
The production will be brought to life by Set and Costume Designer Mike Britton, Lighting Designer Oliver Fenwick, Movement Director Leah Hausman, Sound Desginer Mic Pool and Video Designer Ian Liam Galloway.
