Stroll over to Bourke Street Mall and take part in a beloved Melbourne tradition. Take a peek inside the iconic Myer Christmas Windows this festive season, and celebrate the animated Australian TV show, Bluey. See the lovable Blue Heeler dog, Bluey, and her Mum, Dad and little sister Bingo, in detail as they celebrate a classic Aussie Christmas Day. The Christmas Windows are back for for its 68th year, and you can check it out every day, from 7:30am to 10pm, from now until Saturday January 6.
Myer Christmas Windows
Bluey’s Christmas will take over the six Myer windows. Follow them through the day as the family opens presents on Christmas morning, prepare and enjoy Christmas lunch, go for an afternoon swim at Uncle Stripe’s, play cricket with Lucky’s family and see a light show at the Heeler’s House.
Throughout the windows, you will hear voices from the show, including award-winning Larrakia and Tiwi actress, Miranda Tapsell, who will provide a warm greeting and farewell message. Miranda plays Dougie’s mum in the series.
This partnership between Myer, BBC Studios and Ludo Studio took over 12 months to prepare and plan. ItĀ features 53 replicated characters. Bluey and her family appear in all six windows, and each character took up to 250 hours to complete. There’s also over 500 handmade pieces for the props and scenic dressings.
After you’ve admired the Windows, head inside the store and go up to Level 6. There, you’ll find Bluey’s House with interactive zones, including a Dance Mode Silent Disco, keyboards to learn the Bluey theme song and more. There will also be Meet and Greets with Bluey and Bingo on Level 6, every weekend from 11am until 3pm.
