Nothing says Australian Christmas like a cold brew and barbecue at the beach. But sometimes Melburnians want to experience the holidays the Northern Hemisphere way. Although we can’t change the weather, we can listen to Christmas music and visit Christmas markets to get in a festive mood, sporting singlets and all. Luckily, Geelong’s biggest Christmas market is only an hour away for anyone looking for a quick getaway this December.
Geelong’s original and biggest Christmas market is back
Located on Geelong’s stunning waterfront, Piccadilly Christmas market returns for another year of unforgettable memories. This one-day-only indoor market is one of the best Christmas events you’ll find this year, boasting top-quality artisans and food vendors in 110 stalls.
Piccadilly Christmas Market is 100% locally owned and run and it has been promoting local creators for 16 years. Besides the benefit or supporting small businesses, you can secure your gifts just in time for Christmas, from artwork, homewares and plants to clothes, handmade jewellery, festive treats, and delicious food.

How to get there from Melbourne
Piccadilly Market is located inside the Deakin Waterfront Campus. The easiest way to get there from Melbourne by public transport is by train, taking the V/Line from Southern Cross Station to Geelong Station. It is usually a one-hour journey, with trains leaving roughly every 20–30 minutes during the day. From there, it is a 15–20 minute walk or a short bus ride to Deakin University Waterfront Campus. For those driving, there is free parking at the Deakin carpark so there is really no excuse but to check the market out.
