Pick Your Own Sunflowers is gearing up for another season of sunflower picking. Located over an hour away from Melbourne, these sunflower fields are perfect for a bright and wholesome day trip. Drive out to Dunnstown, not too far from Ballarat, and wander along the golden fields. Soak in the sunlight and take home your own sunflowers at the end of the day. Due to the extreme weather that we’ve had in the last year, the sunflower season has come a little later than usual. For now, the field will open to the public from Friday March 17 to Sunday March 19.
Pick Your Own Sunflowers
Swap city views for golden blooms at this iconic sunflower farm. Wander through the fields and get the perfect Instagram shot, with thousands of flowers blooming all around you.
The sunflower stems are quite tough, so you’re welcome to bring your own secateurs or scissors to protect your hands. You’re also encouraged to bring your own bucket, so that the sunflowers can travel home safely. Sunflowers are $4 a stem, and entry at the gate is $10 per ticket. Children under 5 are free. It’s best to bring cash as Wi-Fi is unreliable.
Furry friends are welcome to join you in the paddock as long as they are on a leash. However, keep a look out for any snakes on the ground or bees in the air. Do keep an eye on the weather forecast before you go, and remember to wear suitable shoes. There are no toilets on the farm, so remember to go before you visit.
Once you bring your flowers home, you’ll have a delightful souvenir of your fun in the sun.
This event relies entirely on nature, so the field will open momentarily this weekend, with more dates to come as the season progresses.
Opening dates and times are:
- Friday March 17 – 10am to 5pm
- Saturday March 18 – 10am to 8pm
- Sunday March 19 – 10am to 5pm
A private sound healing session is also taking place with Cymatic Harmony on Thursday March 16. This 60 minute session costs $75. Find out more here.
Keep an eye on their social media for updates.
