We’re deep into spring, and although a few annual events, like the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Tesselaar Tulip Festival, are now over, there’s still some dreamy floral events for you to look forward to. One of them is peony picking at the beautiful Romswood Peony Farm. Located one hour away from Melbourne, this family-run flower farm runs ‘pick your own peonies’ events every November. Pop by the garden and pick out your own pretty flowers to take home. The first peony picking day will kick off on Sunday November 17.
Romswood Peony Farm
At this ticketed event, you can wander through the garden and peony fields and find your own blooms to take home. A picking session runs for two hours and costs $55 for 15 stems. If you can’t get enough of the flowers and need to pick more, any extra peonies will be a further $5 each. As this is a working farm, you will need to wear sturdy, sensible shoes, and bring your own secateurs and bucket. All picking sessions will take place, no matter the weather.
If you don’t feel like picking your own flowers, you could also purchase a non-picking ticket for $20 per person. This gives you access to the garden and fields, so you can admire the pretty blooms. Entry is free for children under 18 years.
All tickets must be purchased in advance.
If you miss out, you can also pop by the farm gate and buy a bunch for $25, or find peony plants from $35.
Picking dates:
- Sunday November 17
- Saturday November 23
- Sunday November 24
- Saturday November 30
At the moment, all sessions run from 11am to 1pm. As this event relies on nature, additional sessions or dates may be added as the season unfolds.
