Winter has only just begun, but snow has been reported all around Victoria’s ski resorts, thanks to a cold front that swept through the state. So, if you’ve been itching to get to the mountains and frolic among the snow, you’re in luck! Most major ski resorts around Victoria have decided to open early. Pack up your winter gear, go for a drive, and have fun out there! Here are the places opening early:
Mount Hotham
After receiving 23cm of fresh snow, Mt Hotham has decided to open early on Saturday June 4. Lift tickets, rentals and lessons are all available to book online now, so you can get your winter holiday planning started.

Mt Buller is also opening early this Saturday. The resort received 35cm of snow since Monday, with more snow expected over the weekend. A limited number of lifts will operate this Saturday, and the Village Toboggan park will open on Saturday and Sunday. Skiing and snowboarding on Bourke Street will start on Saturday morning. Everything is available for you to book online and plan ahead.

After receiving an average of 37cm of snow, Falls Creek has also decided to open one week early. Their Halleys Comet and Towers Quad chairlifts will open on Saturday June 4 for skiing and snowboarding. Everything is available to book online now. Meanwhile, other locations, like Lake Mountain and Mt Baw Baw, will stick to their originally planned opening dates in the middle of June. However, these ski resorts are still open for visits, so you’re welcome to drive up and simply admire the snow on its own. You just won’t be able to ski or toboggan. Keep an eye on the weather forecast, follow all snow chain instructions and enjoy the snow!
