Melbourne’s cultural landscape just got a little more joyous, a little more devious, and a little more showstopping, with the opening of Spiegel Haus. Now open on Lonsdale Street in the heart of the CBD, the venue is bursting at the seams with music, theatre, comedy, food, drink, and good times. If you’ve ever complained that Melbourne shuts down by 8pm, this place is out to prove you wrong, with a full programme of events running into the night all through the summer and beyond.
As Secret Melbourne has joined forces with Spiegel Haus to take you behind the scenes, we thought we’d give you a run-down of all the fabulous events you can experience now that the venue has thrown open its doors. The team have plotted a superb smorgasbord of all-singing, all-dancing events to celebrate the grand opening. We’ll be updating this page with the latest events, offers, and news about Spiegel Haus throughout its season, so bookmark this page to stay up to date.
What is Spiegel Haus?

Let’s start with what it once was: a car park. Spiegel Haus is found atop the Golden Square Car Park on Lonsdale Street, but armed with a vision and a fair amount of glitter, the team behind it have transformed the space into a multi-use arts venue that offers guests an unforgettable night out. It’s all set to be this summer’s favourite city hangout, where the music flows freely, the performances burst off the stage, and you head home with a spring in your step.
You’ll find all manner of theatrical and musical spectacles taking place in the Spiegeltent, the Black Box Theatre, and on the Spiegel Haus Rooftop. Oh, and if you’re seeking a moment of relaxation, head to the Secret Melbourne lounge to kick back with a drink & snap some pictures – go on, you’ve earned it!
What’s on at Spiegel Haus in December
Spiegel Haus will be running events through the summer and into 2026, so December offers but a taste of the full run of spectacular events. Here are the ones we’re most excited for!
Blanc de Blanc

One of the most elegant nights out you can experience this summer – with a healthy dose of cheekiness thrown in for good measure – Blanc de Blanc blends acrobatics, comedy, and cabaret for a mesmerising stage show. It’s witty, it’s wonderful, and there’s plenty of champagne to go around!
📆 Wednesday – Sunday throughout December
💵 The cheap seats are available from $69

Maho Magic Bar

Making a welcome return to Australia after previous visits to the Adelaide Fringe and other events, Maho Magic Bar arrives from Tokyo with a few tricks up its sleeve. Literally; the bar’s resident magicians specialise in sleight of hand and close-up magic that’ll have you questioning your eyesight (and perhaps your sanity). Family-friendly matinees and adult shows mean there’s a show for everyone here, but if you’re over 18, we’d suggest an evening show where you can kick bar with the bar’s excellent cocktails.
📆 Every Tuesday – Sunday
💵 From $68, or you can book a whole table for a group gathering

Vaudeville Smash’d

Melbourne’s own Vaudeville Smash’d are staging a triumphant takeover of Spiegel Haus every Saturday night, full of vaudevillian vivacity. The show is anything but low-key – Spiegel Haus explicitly mentions the ‘controlled chaos’ of their shows – so come prepared for a glorious mashup of music, comedy, cabaret, and more, which will no doubt take a few unexpected twists and turns before the night is out.
📆 Saturday December 6

Jazz & Jaffles
Head to Spiegel Haus’ rooftop for a more sedate, but no less engaging, affair. Jazz & Jaffles takes a culinary detour this month; there’s atmospheric music from Jake Amy Trio, Firetail, Jerry, and more, but instead of the usual jaffles, CDMX Tacos are on the menu. Still, with great food, soulful music, and skyline views, it’s one of Melbourne’s very best date nights.
📆 Friday, December 12
💵 Free if you RSVP!

What else is there to do?
Spiegel Haus’ December lineup is giving us a tantalising taste of what you can expect over the coming weeks and months, as we’ve been told there are more shows, more events, and many more good times to come.
If you’re hungry, there’s no need to worry. Up on the rooftop, you’ll find resident eatery CDMX Taqueria, serving up an exclusive menu of tasty tacos, sweet churros and more. CDMX is open from Wednesdays to Sundays.
Inside, you’ll also find a full service bar, serving a curated drinks menu to help you get in the party mood. Drinks are available before, during or after the show. The bar is open from 5pm to 11pm on weekdays, 3pm to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1pm to 11pm on Sundays.
