After making their Australian debut in Sydney late last year, the lifestyle store Standard Products is coming to Melbourne. Run by the same team as Daiso, this store offers a curated range of everyday items, such as homewares, travel goods, kitchenware, stationary and more. Standard Products will be connected to the Daiso at Midtown Plaza in Melbourne, and is expected to open by the end of 2025.

Standard Products
This brand first launched in Shibuya, Tokyo in 2021, and now, there’s over 180 Standard Products stores around the world, including Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States and New Zealand.
Along with their Westfield Parramatta store, which opened last December, there will also be a new venue in Canberra later this year.
“The response in Parramatta showed us there’s strong interest in Japanese-designed products that are both practical and affordable in Australia,” said a spokesperson. “Our customers have spoken, and we are excited to now bring our brand into Melbourne and Canberra.”

Inside the store, you can expect about 2,000 original items. Look forward to homewares, tableware, travel goods, stationary, cleaning, organisation and more lifestyle essentials with a minimalist aesthetic. Think neutral colours and simple materials, such as wood, glass and stainless steel. You’ll find goods that won Japan’s Good Design Awards, such as the Facial Cleansing Soap and Fluffy Towel.
The products are made and locally-sourced in Japan. For example, you’ll see knives from Seki City, which has a long history of sword making, or brushes from Kumano Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, which has a brush industry dating back to the Edo period.
The Midtown Melbourne store will be about 300 square metres, and open from 10am to 9pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 6pm on Sunday. Find it at 246 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000. Learn more about the store here.
