Wine and dine 139 metres off the ground at the Southbank destination, Strato Melbourne. Situated on the 40th floor, this sky-high venue features a romantically modern restaurant, a luxurious bar lounge and exclusive VIP spaces. Feast on a modern Australian menu and indulge in cocktails among the clouds at this elevated venue.
This space originally opened in July 2022, under the name of Sky Bar Melbourne. It has since had a gentle rebrand, becoming the Strato that you can see today.
“Our vision for this venue has been to show off our amazing city in all its glory,” said Christian Sujer, General Manager. “You can expect great food, a creative drinks list and a front-row seat to an undeniably spectacular city skyline.”
Step into a private entry at Southbank’s Oakwood Premier Melbourne, and soar up to the 40th floor. To the left of the foyer, you’ll see the main bar lounge, which hosts up to 70 people. It features a 16-metre stone bar, 7-metre tall glass windows and an alfresco terrace for warmer nights. Enjoy sweeping views of the city skyline, while enjoying appetisers, seasonal cocktails, wines and locally crafted beers.
And to the right of the foyer, you’ll find the main restaurant, which seats up to 60 guests and has its own private bar. Choose between booth or table seating, and enjoy gorgeous views of Port Phillip Bay.
There’s also two private dining spaces to choose from. Head above the bar and restaurant to Level 41 for an exclusive space with extra views, or go to the north side of the venue for another space, which can be used for both standing and seated events. These spaces are perfect for special occasions and functions.
Enjoy casual and seasonal cuisine among the clouds in this luxurious space. Expect contemporary modern Australian food, with ingredients sourced from places like King Island and Mount Zero.
Start your meal with delicious entrees like Tasmanian Boomer Bay oysters, spiced crispy calamari or beef tataki with grilled asparagus. Mains include lemon pepper grilled chicken with spiced romesco and corn salsa; beetroot risotto with whipped goat’s cheese and walnuts; and Black Opal Wagyu striploin. Finish on a sweet note with dessert options like lavender and cherry tart or oat crumble with pandan cream and lemon granita.
To complement the food, Charlie Ainsbury and his team from Proof and Co. have created a drinks menu that will blur the lines between old and new world luxury. Think classics like Negroni, and refreshing spins, like Kiwi Fruit Daiquiri. On top of the cocktails, you’ll find a wide range of beers, wines and rare spirits.
“One of the things we’re most excited about here is our collection of rare and old bottlings,” said Ainsbury. “Over time, well-loved spirits have become discontinued and distilleries might have shut up shop or changed the recipe. We’re in the process of sourcing these rare bottlings to feature on our spirits menu at Strato Melbourne.”
