Love flowers? Summer is a great time to search for pretty blooms like sunflowers, and if you’re looking for dreamy wildflowers around Melbourne, we’ve found the perfect place. Wander over to Abbotsford Convent, and lose yourself among the gentle blossoms of their newly established meadow. The field is a living installation, known as Super Bloom at the Convent. It has just reached full bloom, so now is the perfect time for you to visit. It’s also free to attend, and open every day.

Super Bloom at the Convent
This peaceful meadow was created by celebrated horticulturalist and landscape designer, Jac Semmler of Super Bloom Studios. The space was planted by and is carefully tended to by students at Melbourne Polytechnic and a team of garden volunteers.
You’ll find 20 species on full display, including vibrant poppies, paper daisies and cornflowers. Made up of an assortment of perennials and annuals, the flowers were designed to attract both pollinators and visitors. Take in gorgeous hues like golden yellow, soft apricot, mauve lilac, brilliant blue and more. The flowers are expected to stay in full bloom until early February.
This beautiful meadow offers a pocket of relief from the summer heat. Come back as we progress from summer to autumn, and watch as it transforms with the seasons.
When you’re not looking at the wild blossoms, explore the rest of the heritage garden and grounds, relax with a lovely picnic or a nice book.
