Gather around shopaholics, The Big Design Market is returning to Melbourne for its ‘Almost Winter’ edition. Rug up and wander beneath twinkling festoon lights at the Royal Exhibition Building in search of thoughtful treasures. Discover ethically-made ceramics, jewellery, homewares, clothing and more. On top of that, look forward to delicious food and drink, a creative play space for kids and more. The Big Design Market will have over 250 independent designers from Australia, as well as over 75 food and drink brands. It’s all happening from Friday, May 22 to Sunday, May 24.

There’s over 55 new brands joining the line-up this time around. Check out hand-blown homewares from Mariella McKinley Glass, vegan footwear from e’serdiv, titanium frames from SMEC Eyewear, body care from UKOO, bags from ReRoped and more.
Spruce up your wardrobe by browsing through the range of sustainable clothes and accessories. Find plenty of homewares and gift ideas, like ceramics, artworks, pet wares, candles and more. You’ll also find plenty of gourmet packaged foods to take home, such as truffle products, matcha powder, artisanal cheese, chilli oil and more.

After a day of shopping, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Feast on savoury options like Banh Mi from Ca Com, Italian dishes from Ugo Burrata Bar, pastries from Wonder Pies, bao from Wonderbao and more. For something sweet, you’ll find ice cream from Billy Van Creamy, Portuguese tarts from Casa Nata, pastries and cakes from Cobb Lane, treats from All Day Donuts and cannoli from Cannoleria.
Keep your energy up with a brew from Axil Coffee Roasters, or enjoy a cheeky tipple or two from vendors like Tommy’s Booze, Brick Lane Brewing, Sakemate and more.
If you arrive between 4pm and 6pm on Friday night, you can have a free glass of Pizzini Wines’ Spritzzini Prosecco Lime Spritz.

More fun stuff
See a large-scale installation from Melbourne artist Elaine Li of Xue Fei Art. This installation will hang from the dome of the Royal Exhibition Building.
Meanwhile, the kids will have plenty of fun in a specially designed kids area by Li. They can chill out with some badges or colouring in sheets featuring Li’s designs.
