Rumours of a sequel to Christmas classic The Holiday seem to have been greatly exaggerated this year, after reports were shot down by cast members.
If you’re still clinging on to the hope of that reunion, you might need to wait a little longer–but a fine way to fill that void might have just fallen into your lap. In the most Christmassy of winter getaways, the cottage from the The Holiday is now available to book online via Airbnb.
After the 50th re-watch of the romcom this year, you might decide that yes, it is time to live out that fantasy of staying in an adorable cottage. Thanks to a couple buying up the property and putting it up for rent on Airbnb, blissfully unaware of its iconography, you can.
Plus, the interiors are extra Christmassy, offering a cosy-as-hell fireplace; as well as fairy lights and a Christmas tree for the festive season. Some might say it’s a doodle prodigy…
Honeysuckle Cottage sits in Holmbury St Mary, Surrey, and was found by producers looking for the most English cottage they could find. So if you fancy a getaway overseas that’s surrounded by film royalty, you’ve found it. The only thing that would make it more Christmassy would be a dusting of snow.
One footnote to be aware of is that we can’t guarantee that stars of the film – including Jude Law and Cameron Diaz – have actually set foot in this very cottage (though we also can’t rule it out). Renamed Rosehill Cottage, what you see in the film is actually a recreation made for the purposes of the film, due to the actual spot being too far away from the cast and crew in London.
But COME ON. You can stay in a piece of Christmas movie history, which is obviously worth the price of £295-per-night… or $538 Australian dollars.
