Prepare to be swept away to worlds of wonder and whimsy, because the music of Studio Ghibli is coming to life in Melbourne this March. For one night only, the Palais Theatre will convert into a dreamscape of sound as The Music of STUDIO GHIBLI Original Singers Symphony makes its long-awaited Melbourne debut on Sunday, 1st March 2026.
Presented by Liveplanet, FriedRice Entertainment and SOZO, this event brings Studio Ghibli’s music alive in its most authentic form. Melbourne audiences will experience the original singers behind some of the studio’s most iconic soundtracks—Yoshikazu Mera, Sumi Shimamoto, Azumi Inoue and Yuyu—performing alongside the 17-member Tokyo Asia Orchestra, led by acclaimed violinist and concertmaster Takeshi Hashima.
Meanwhile, audiences can expect a striking journey through the music that has defined generations of animation fans. From uplifting anthems that capture the thrill of adventure to gentle ballads that stir deep nostalgia, every piece evokes the heart and imagination of Studio Ghibli’s world.
Whether you dreamed among floating castles or smiled along with Totoro in the rain, hearing these songs performed live by the original voices will feel like stepping into a Ghibli film in Melbourne.
Tickets for the event start general sale on 30th January 2026, 12pm (AEDT). VIP tickets include an Autographed Board and a VIP Laminate & Lanyard. Given how devoted Ghibli fans are, this one’s bound to be a packed show.
