Queen Victoria Market is running a special edition of their Foodie Tour, inspired by Anthony Bourdain’s love of great food, fresh produce and culinary discovery. Take part in The TONY Trail and see the Market through the late Bourdain’s eyes, while enjoying tastings inspired by his favourite flavours and dishes. This experience comes ahead of the release of A24’s film, TONY, which covers the origin story of this famous chef, writer and TV host. The TONY Trail will take place on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16.

The TONY Trail
This foodie trail pays tribute to Bourdain’s visit to the market in the 2009 Melbourne episode of No Reservations. Lasting for two hours, you’ll explore the historic halls, see the traders and take part in eight tastings. Look forward to freshly cooked mussels, freshly shucked oysters and premium seafood, traditional pickled octopus, chargrilled kangaroo and a selection of artisan cheeses. Then, cleanse your palate with some seasonal fruit, ending with the iconic hot jam donuts from American Doughnut Kitchen.

“Queen Victoria Market has always been a place where food brings people together,” said Matt Elliott, Chief Executive Officer, Queen Victoria Market. “Anthony Bourdain understood that the best food experiences begin with great produce, passionate traders and a willingness to discover something new. We’re delighted to celebrate his legacy and invite visitors to experience the Market through that same lens.”
Meanwhile, the film follows a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain (Dominic Sessa) as he travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaos of a restaurant kitchen, changing the course of his life. TONY will come out in Australian cinemas later this month, on August 20.
