After a three-month closure, the phenomenal restaurant Vue de monde and its sister bar Lui will reopen. Soar up to Level 55 of Melbourne’s Rialto Towers, and indulge in caviar, cocktails and more in the refreshed space. You’ll find revamped features as well as an updated menu, so whether you’ve been there before, or it’s your first time, you’ll be sure to have a sensational experience. Reservations are now open, with Vue de monde open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, and lunch on Friday and Saturday.
Vue de monde
This fine dining restaurant has a new menu for you to discover. Led by executive chef Hugh Allen and general manager Hugo Simoes, you’ll find new experiences through the 18-serving menu. Dishes from the opening menu include grilled lamb sweetbreads with asparagus; padrón peppers filled with heirloom eggplant; and a two-part serving of marron, starting with grilled marron tail and ending with marron roe custard.
According to Allen, the team have been working on these changes for a few years now. “Taking a few months away from the day to day has helped us create what we believe are really special menus across the restaurant and bar,” he said.
As for drinks, wine director Dorian Guillon and head sommelier Mathieu Gobin are managing a massive wine selection from Australia and around the world. Their collection is made up of 2000 bins.
The dining room has been refreshed, with updates to the tables and added lighting throughout the space. The private dining room has been completely overhauled, with a new hand-blown light feature and a dedicated hanging space for artwork. The open kitchen has also had an upgrade, including a brand new pastry section.
The events space has been touched-up, and is open for all sorts of occasions, from small dinner functions to large weddings.
Lui Bar
This sister bar has been completely redesigned. The bar has been put into a new location, which ties the eastern and southern wings together, while also increasing the capacity of the venue. You’ll find a local and sustainable environment, filled with Australian materials like sheepskin and smoked glass. The bar also has new furniture and lighting.
The menu has expanded, offering a larger range of snacks for you to try. Find the same premium ingredients from Vue de monde, and graze on bites such as Sydney Rock oysters, Blackmore wagyu ribs, caviar, chocolate soufflé and Australian cheeses.
As for the drinks, you’ll find a dreamy cocktail list that focuses on sustainability and native ingredients. Curated by Elisabetta Lupi, Lui Bar’s manager, you’ll find ingredients like Tasmanian wasabi leaf and sunrise limes. Her favourite new drink on the menu is the Margot, a spritz with Davidson plum, rhubarb and lacto-fermented yellow tomato.
The extensive wine list from Vue de monde is also available, and guests can sip their way through a large variety of vintage spirits. Rare cigars are also on offer.
Lui Bar will open on November 8, from 5:30pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and 11:30am on Friday and Saturday.
