A new nationwide study has named Victoria’s worst-rated Aldi, with the Northcote supermarket scoring just 3.98 stars out of five from 713 Google reviews.
The inner-north store ranks as the sixth-lowest-rated Aldi in Australia, according to an analysis of 545 supermarkets and more than 366,000 Google reviews.
However, other Melbourne Aldi stores have also received their fair share of criticism from shoppers. Stores in Dandenong, Taylors Lakes and West Melbourne also appear among the state’s 10 lowest-rated locations, with shoppers complaining about self-serve checkouts, signage and everyday shopping experiences.
With Victorian Aldi stores averaging 4.24 stars, these supermarkets fall short of the state benchmark. Here’s where to find Melbourne’s worst-rated Aldi stores and how their scores compare nationally.

Here are Victoria’s 10 lowest-rated Aldi stores:
- Aldi Northcote — 3.98 stars (713 reviews)

With just 3.98 stars from 713 Google reviews, Aldi Northcote has been named Victoria’s lowest-rated Aldi in the nationwide study.
The supermarket also ranks sixth-lowest nationally, with only five Aldi stores across Australia recording lower average ratings. One shopper raised concerns about finding the store, writing in June 2026: “Difficult to find. No clear signages”
Dandenong Square follows Northcote in Victoria’s rankings, scoring 3.99 stars from 444 reviews. Aldi Taylors Lakes shares the same average, with 252 reviews.
The Taylors Lakes store attracted criticism over its self-serve checkouts, with one shopper writing: “The self-serve checkouts have deteriorated to the point where they are now unusable if you choose to bring your own bag.”
West Melbourne rounds out the bottom four, averaging 4.01 stars from 334 reviews. One customer wrote in October 2026: “Even if the only register belt is full, you’re not allowed to use the 6 available self-serve checkouts.”
How does Aldi rank nationally?

While Northcote takes the unwanted title of Victoria’s worst-rated Aldi, the country’s lowest-rated store is in Kogarah, Sydney, with just 3.79 stars.
At the other end of the national rankings, Victoria fares considerably better. Healesville Aldi in the Yarra Valley has the highest Google rating of any Aldi in Australia, averaging 4.60 stars from 240 reviews.
Gisborne in the Macedon Ranges follows with 4.56 stars, while Torquay ranks fourth nationally with 4.49 stars. That gives Victoria three of Australia’s 10 highest-rated Aldi stores.
Also, one Healesville shopper wrote in March 2026: “Cheapest place in Healesville to buy groceries. Friendly staff. Excellent parking lot.”
Overall, Victorian Aldi stores average 4.24 stars, comfortably ahead of Woolworths at 4.08 and Coles at 4.03. Queensland records the highest state average nationally, at 4.32 stars.
How were the Aldi ratings calculated?

The research was conducted by SEO experts, who collected Google Maps listings for Aldi, Coles and Woolworths across Australia on 5th October 2026. Researchers included 545 open Aldi stores with at least 200 Google reviews, covering 366,916 reviews in total.
They calculated each store’s exact average using its individual one- to five-star ratings, rather than Google’s rounded scores, allowing them to distinguish between supermarkets displaying the same rating.
The featured Aldi stores were checked again on 20th October 2026. Ratings may change as new customer reviews come in, but for now, Northcote holds the unwanted title of Victoria’s worst-rated Aldi.
