In a first for Melbourne, a massive pop-up zipline experience has been installed over the Yarra River. Soar across the river and take in views of the CBD in a whole new way. In this 130-metre adventure, you’ll zoom all the way from Fed Square to Alexandra Gardens. This experience will run across four weeks in December, with a limited amount of tickets, so don’t miss out!
Yarra River Zipline
This will be Melbourne’s first zipline experience in the CBD, and Australia’s first zipline that takes you over a major river. There will be two lines, so you can try this experience with a friend by your side. You’ll be suspended nine metres of the ground and reach speeds of up to 40km per hour.
On the journey, you’ll take in views of iconic Melbourne destinations, like the MCG and Arts Centre, in a way that you’ve never seen before.
This action-packed adventure will be run by Firefly Zipline, who have decades of experience, so you’ll be in safe hands.
What you need to know:
Allow 45 minutes for this experience, including checking-in for the safety briefing, getting harnessed up and then walking back over the bridge after your zip.
There are lockers available to rent for $3 on-site, which can safely store handbags, wallets and keys. Otherwise, it might be best to bring someone along to hold your things.
If you’d like to film the experience, there are wrist straps available to purchase for $12. These wrist straps will keep your phone secure while you zoom over the river.
Flyers under the age of 12 will need to be accompanied by a paying adult. Meanwhile, flyers under 18 will need their guardian to sign a waiver on their behalf.
A waiver will be sent to you along with confirmation of your booking. To keep the day running smoothly, it’s best to sign the waiver online before your arrival.
This zipline will accommodate flyers from 35kg to 120kg.
Firefly Zipline are currently working with consultants to see how this zipline experience could be accessible for those using a wheelchair.
Sessions are extremely limited, with over 95 per cent of tickets sold already. Bookings are recommended, but on low-traffic days like weekdays, there are a limited amount of walk-in sessions available.
