Take a stroll through the streets of Melbourne and discover incredible coffee and spectacular street art. From graffiti to murals to stencils and more, art is dotted all around the city. Now our iconic street art scene has been named among the very best in the world beating heavyweights like Berlin, NYC and Los Angeles. The list evaluated over 132 cities, and Melbourne was ranked third. Our city was also recognised for having the highest number of murals on the list, a staggering 2,317 eclectic pieces of art.
The study said about Melbourne: “Streets like the famous AC/DC Lane, named after the legendary Australian rock band, are filled with a kaleidoscope of street art, including the 3D sculpture of Bon Scott appearing to burst through the wall. Hosier Lane also acts as street artists’ canvas, with stencils and paste-ups plastered along its walls. It was also home to Banksy’s “Parachuting Rat” stencil before it was painted over by mistake in 2010.”
