Scottish craft brewery, BrewDog, is opening a unique bar inside the historic E Division building of Pentridge Prison. This will be the first BrewDog bar location in Australia, with more venues expected to open around the country in the next few years. BrewDog Pentridge will feature an indoor dining area, an outdoor beer garden, a container bar and more. This new craft beer destination is set to open in spring this year.
After opening a taproom and brewery in Brisbane in 2019, the Scottish craft beer giants are ready to open their first Australian bar.
“Australia is one of the most exciting and dynamic craft beer countries in the world,” said BrewDog co-founder Martin Dickie. “We can’t wait for this project to get underway with BrewDog Pentridge!”
BrewDog teamed up with Australian Venue Co to make this Australian expansion possible. This hospitality team is responsible for plenty of iconic locations around Melbourne, including Yarra Botanica, The Exchange Beach Club Pop-Up, Fargo and Co and State of Grace.
“These beacons of beer will be a true showcase of our brand, with a focus on high-quality beer, fantastic food experiences and exceptional service,” said Dickie.
The 12,000 square foot bar will have something for everyone. The restored interiors will offer a nod to the historic prison, with an indoor dining room and lounge on the ground floor. Head up to the next level for some cool event spaces. Meanwhile, the outdoor beer garden will offer something more modern and casual, with a container bar, bookable spaces and games area. On top of the huge beer selection from two on-site bars, there will be plenty of food, including burgers, tacos and wings.
More details about the space will be released closer to the opening date.
