Five years after tapping their first keg at the Winter Night Market, Brick Lane Brewing is finally opening a new restaurant in the heart of the Queen Victoria Market precinct. Take a seat on the terrace and look out over the market, while indulging in plenty of beer, freshly shucked oysters and more. Brick Lane Market will open on Wednesday November 29, coinciding with the opening date of Summer Night Market.
Brick Lane Market
You’ll find Brick Lane Market at the former site of the Mercat Cross Hotel. The historic site has been transformed into a celebration of beer, with a rotating selection and 36 beers on tap. The ground floor has a tastings bar, which opened earlier this year. Meanwhile, the venue upstairs has a 120-seat dining room, where you can eat produce sourced straight from the market, as well as an open kitchen, a 16-seat private dining room and a 150-seat terrace.
The menu follows a market-to-plate philosophy, so that you can enjoy the freshest, most seasonal ingredients from Queen Victoria Market. Specials will change daily, depending on what’s available. There will also be a Raw Bar, serving up fresh oysters and seafood.
As for drinks, expect a curated list of core and seasonal ranges from Brick Lane, such as One Love Pale Ale and Hi Fi Dry Zero Carb Japanese Larger. You’ll also discover one-off “Pilot Batches”, including beers inspired by and exclusive to Queen Vic Market. If you don’t feel like beer, there will also be wine and spirits with a strong Melbourne and Victorian influence, such as Starward, Little Lon Distilling and Moorooduc Estate.
The upstairs venue will open daily, from 11:30am until late.
