For the third year in a row, Victoria’s Country Cob Bakery has taken the crown for Australia’s top pie.
In 2018, it was the seafood-satay pie that took the top prize at the Baking Association of Australia’s annual pie and pastie competition. (Featured image: countrycobbakery)
Then in 2019, it was the caramelised pork and pepper pie that took the honours.
And this year, beating out almost 300 bakeries from across Australia, the flaky pepper-beef pie took the top spot in Sydney.
But the flaky pepper-beef pie wasn’t the only winner for brother Ryan and Chan Khun’s Country Cob Bakery. Not even close.
The brothers also won across four other categories, rightly cementing their place as some of Australia’s best pie makers. If not, the best.
Their barbequed pork and quail egg creation won best gourmet pie; the aforementioned pepper-beef also won best plain beef pie as well as best flavoured beef pie; and for the vegetarians, the curried cauliflower, lentil and chickpea stole the show.
So, where do you need to go to get your hands on these gold-medal-winning pies?
Country Cob Bakery can be found in Kyneton, on the far side of the Macedon Ranges, which makes for a perfect excuse for a road trip out into the country. But if that’s too far for you to travel, Country Cob Bakery is delivering its award-winning pies to all metropolitan Melbourne areas as well as some regional areas too. Winning!
To place your order, and for more info regarding delivery, go to the Country Cob Bakery website. There’s free delivery too for orders over $130 as well as a free six-pack of fruit-mince pies.
And just so you know, if you don’t have the time to trek it out into country Victoria, the brothers have a store in Boronia as well.
