The frosty weather doesn’t have to mean hibernation this winter especially when top-notch productions like The Woman in Black, Sunset Boulevard and Beauty and the Beast are coming to town. Adding to the stacked roster is a brand-new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein which is set to play for a limited season at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne and Sydney’s Theatre Royal, from August this year. The show comes to the two cities after a sold-out season in QPAC last year.
Frankenstein, Melbourne
The classic gothic novel tells the story of scientist Victor Frankenstein who creates a monster and the disaster that ensues when he is shunned by society, exploring themes of man versus nature and life and death. The thrilling tale was written by English author Mary Shelley in 1818 and has enamoured audiences around the world for over two centuries.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be presenting this brilliant production to audiences in Melbourne and Sydney,” said Nick Skubij, Director of Frankenstein. “Those eager to see an absolute classic story live on stage will be appeased, along with those hungry to be impressed by new theatrical forms.”
This latest stage adaptation promises a haunting score, impressive stage design, over 140sqm of LED video panels, pyrotechnics and state-of-the-art technology while staying faithful to the original story.
