In no surprise to us, the Great Ocean Road has been declared as Australia’s most loved road trip, according to the car insurance experts at ROLLiN’ Insurance. They looked at 22 iconic road trips around the country and crunched the numbers, using a range of metrics like average monthly searches and social media posts to work out the level of interest for each one. And after sorting out the rankings, the Great Ocean Road came out on top, thanks to its legendary landmarks and picture-perfect views.

To work out the rankings, the ROLLiN’ team looked at the average monthly searches on Google from both Australia and overseas. They also considered the number of TikTok and Instagram posts, as well as the posts per distance.
The Great Ocean Road topped the list for monthly searches, with 83,900 searches from Australia and 59,200 searches from overseas. It was also the most popular Australian road trip on social media, with 33 million posts from TikTok alone, and 1.8 million Instagram posts. With an average of 146,132 posts per kilometre, this also makes it Australia’s most scenic road trip.
