Sydneysiders have been lucky enough to experience the wonders of the luxurious KOI Dessert Bar. Founded by the Poernomo brothers, including ‘Dessert King’ Reynold Poernomo, as well as their mum Ike Malada, KOI is all about masterfully creating artistic pieces and extraordinary experiences. And now, after six years, this decadent dessert spot is finally coming to Melbourne. You’ll find KOI on the Queen & Collins Precinct, among other notable venues like Reine & La Rue. It opens on Friday July 19, and thousands have already signed up to the waitlist.
KOI Dessert Bar
Look forward to indulgent cakes, dreamy drinks and interesting dining concepts. KOI draws its inspiration from nature and its evolving beauty. With their new location, it also hopes to mirror Melbourne’s vibrant art and culture scene, adding a new element to its taste, aesthetics and gastronomy. Their Lil’ Garden dessert, for example, is inspired by the beauty of the Royal Botanic Gardens, and their NGK treat, or National Gallery of KOI, is all about edible artworks.
“We’ve been wanting to come to Melbourne for years,” said co-founder Reynold Poernomo. “The venue and space at Queen & Collins echoes the identity we’ve shaped over the years, and is a place where our commitment to innovation, art, flavour can come to life. We want this to be a place where everyone comes to leave a lasting impression on someone else.”
The venue can host just 42 guests, and features over 150 desserts on rotation. No two visits will be the same. KOI will focus on ‘Edible Art’ and ‘Chef’s Table’ experiences. Sit, eat, and watch your desserts come to life in an intimate dining experience, spearheaded by Chef Adeline Campestre, Gault&Millau Pastry Chef of the Year Champion.
KOI will open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 10pm. Learn more here.
