THE LUME Melbourne is bringing back their dreamy Van Gogh exhibition. This immersive experience broke attendance records two years ago, and attracted 1.8 million visitors across Australia and New Zealand. For its return season, you can expect familiar spaces like the bright Sunflower Room, as well as the world premiere of a shared virtual reality experience, Finding Vincent. The Van Gogh exhibition will reopen at THE LUME on Boxing Day.

Van Gogh at THE LUME Melbourne
See the work of Vincent Van Gogh come to life in this multi-sensory experience. Around the four storey high gallery space, you’ll see 880 masterpieces from Van Gogh presented as digital projections in chronological order. Feel surrounded by vivid colours, dynamic soundscapes, curated scents and intriguing tactile elements.
Then, together with other visitors, you can experience a deeper and more collaborative journey into Van Gogh’s life with the shared, interactive VR experience.
“We have always embraced the fusion of art and technology to reimagine how audiences engage with masterpieces,” said Bruce Peterson, Founder of Grande Experiences and THE LUME Melbourne. “This shared VR innovation is the latest step in that evolution, merging creativity with cutting-edge digital capability to create moments of awe that go beyond the traditional gallery visit.”

Other things you can look forward to include:
- Starry Night Room – in this new and interactive space, you’ll be surrounded by swirling stars, rolling hills and moonlit skies inspired by the artist’s famous Starry Night piece.
- Sunflower Room – see cheerful sunflowers blooming in every direction, from the floor to the ceiling, in this delightful room.
- Café Terrace 1888 – grab a bite to eat from this charming themed café inside the gallery.
- Artist Studio – follow a guided tutorial and let your inner artist shine.
Tickets for Van Gogh are on sale now.
Meanwhile, the current exhibition, Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius, will close on December 8. This will be your last chance to see pages from the Codex Atlanticus, as well as other cool stuff like an exact 360º replica of the Mona Lisa painting.
If you would like to see both the da Vinci and the Van Gogh exhibition, a Dual Entry ticket is available to purchase for $79.90. Enjoy access to the da Vinci experience before it closes, then see the Van Gogh exhibition from Boxing Day.
