Return to the cinema with Lido on the Roof and Cameo Outdoor.
As Victoria inches closer and closer to our vaccination targets, we’re getting closer than ever to getting out of lockdown. And with a surge of optimism, two Melbourne independent cinemas have announced their reopening dates and plans. Both Lido and Cameo cinemas have planned a return for Tuesday October 26, the day we’re expected to reach 70 per cent of fully vaccinated Victorians. So, book your tickets now and get ready to see the big screen again because numbers are strictly limited. Ready, set, action!
Lido and Cameo cinemas return
Both Lido and Cameo cinemas are making a comeback with blockbusters, arthouse gems and family favourites, so there’s something for everyone. Films on the line-up include:
- Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
- Free Guy
- The Last Duel
Lido on the Roof will also open their season with Zola, an A24 stripper saga based on a viral Twitter thread from 2015. To celebrate the return to the big screen. cinema-goers will receive a glass of sparkling on arrival.
Meanwhile, Cameo Outdoors will include Ron’s Gone Wrong in their line-up. This animated film follows the hilarious story of a young boy and his robot.
Both cinemas are showing Jordan Peele’s Candyman for Halloween.
As both of the cinemas are outdoors, sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled due to bad weather. Rugging up in something cosy is recommended.
At both cinemas, guests are invited to enjoy the bar, which opens one hour before the movie begins. Enjoy the sunset with a drink in your hand and think about how far we’ve come.
Meanwhile, at Cameo Outdoors, pets are also welcome to tag along!
What about the Classic Cinema?
The Classic Rooftop Cinema is currently closed for repairs and is expected to open sometime in November. However, their rooftop bar will also open on October 26.
