For the first time, Preston Market is staying open after dark for their new Night Festival. Wander over to this northside market, where you’ll find select traders staying open well into the night. There will also be pop-up food trucks, serving up festival favourites like Japanese street food, spiral potato twists and fairy floss. DJs and live performances will be there to soundtrack your evening. It’s all happening from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, September 11.

From Nearby will also be open late, if you’d like to pick up a bottle of wine. All bottles are sourced exclusively from producers within a 50-60km radius from Preston Market.
You can also expect a range of pop-up stalls, selling children’s fashion, handmade baby knits, custom stationary, home décor, jewellery and more gift ideas.
While you’re there, Melbourne-based arts group Yo Soy Collective will showcase creative works from 14 local Latin American artists.
Meanwhile, DJ Jessica Wilson will get you ready for the night, warming up the market from 3:30pm. After that, DJ collective Bellaqueo will hit the decks with a mix of Latin sounds and rhythms at 6pm. DYNAMICS band will close out the night with an energetic live set from 7:45pm.
Young visitors will have plenty to do, with free face painting from Azura’s Oasis, as well as glitter, braids, temporary tattoos, live caricature sketches and henna art.
Out in the car park, Darebin FUSE Festival will add some spectacle. In the centre, you’ll find The Cube, a transparent arts space by Melbourne performance company Born in a Taxi. As darkness falls, light and sound will erupt from the structure for the immersive performance, Enlighten. See three illuminated angels move through the crowd. If you can’t make it on the night, The Cube will stay in the car park until September 13, hosting a variety of performances and creative activities as part of the festival.
