Spring is almost here, and if you’re keen to start admiring the blooms, there’s a wholesome country festival for you to check out. Celebrate the start of the season with daffodil displays, open gardens, markets, art exhibitions and more! The Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival is on from Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 13.
Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival 2026
This festival dates back to the 1950s, when the peak season for daffodil growers around Victoria coincided with the Kyneton Show. As time went on, growers would prepare to showcase their blooms at the Kyneton Show, transforming the event into the celebration that we see today.
Wander along Burton Avenue, and see the Golden Mile of Daffodils. This cheerful display was first planted as a bicentennial project in 1988. Then, look out for even more flowers by exploring some open gardens around town.
Some of them, like the Kyneton or Malmsbury Botanic Gardens, are free to enter, and you can visit any time. Other gardens are open on select days, and may require an entry fee. Pick your own daffodil bouquet at The Artful Meadow, explore the picturesque Rosebery Hill, see the rose garden at Willowbrook and more. You can choose your own adventure, or opt for a guided bus tour. For a bit more nature, take part in some guided walking tours.
Take part in the daffodil-themed fun run, or bring your pup along for the Dog Dash. There will even be Ferret Racing if you’re looking for something a little quirky.
Dotted around town, you’ll find creative window displays and imaginative scarecrows. Pop indoors to see a few exhibitions, featuring paintings, photography, ceramics, wedding dresses and more. Throughout the festival, there will also be theatre shows, open mics and music.
There will be a few markets to check out, including the classic Kyneton Farmers’ Market, a community market, a craft market and an antique fair.
Stay busy with drawing workshops, croquet, trivia nights, roller skating and more.
The festival will culminate in their Grand Parade and Fair on Sunday September 13. Look forward to plenty of colourful characters and enchanting moments.

Getting there
You’ll find Kyneton in the Macedon Ranges, just an hour away from Melbourne. If you don’t feel like driving, you can take the V/Line for about one hour and 15 minutes on the Bendigo line.
After enjoying the festival, continue to explore the Macedon Ranges. Head just outside of town and check out Campaspe Mill Distillery and Gallery, or admire nearby cascades like Turpins Falls or Trentham Falls. Walk around Hanging Rock with a llama by your side, explore Forest Glade Gardens in Mount Macedon or go for a walk around the newly reopened Mount Macedon Memorial Cross.
